Calling All Volunteers!

Launch: 9:30 a.m.
              Crab Meadow Beach, Northport, NY
Party: 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Calf Pasture Beach, East Norwalk, CT

Our own Charles Rothenberger is paddling again this year in the tenth annual Kayak for a Cause. Last year he didn't need to get fished out of the Sound even once! We thought we'd test our luck and put him in a boat again, so he will be joining the teams of kayakers paddling madly across the Sound to raise money for Save the Sound, Maritime Aquarium, Outward Bound, Builders Beyond Borders, and Canine Companions. Donate to support your favorite paddler and welcome them on the beach in Norwalk. Join us there for a day-long party featuring a lobsterbake and a concert by Dickie Betts (formerly of the Allman Brothers Band!) and The Great Southern.

If you would like to contribute to Charles, click here.

Restore America’s Estuaries 5th National Conference and EXPO on Coastal and Estuarine Habitat Restoration

Restore America's Estuaries is pleased to announce the Call for Dedicated Sessions, Presentations, and Posters for the 5th National Conference on Coastal and Estuarine Habitat Restoration--Preparing for Climate Change: Science, Practice, and Policy.

We invite you to be a part of the only national conference that focuses exclusively on coastal habitat restoration. Healthy coasts and estuaries are essential to the social, economic, ecological wellbeing of everything that depends on them. Successful habitat restoration at all scales is critical to ensuring vibrant coasts. The Conference will bring timely national attention to the challenges and opportunities for restoration and will bring together a unique blend of people involved in policy, outreach, science, strategy, business, and on-the-ground restoration work.

The deadline for Sessions, Presentations, and Posters is March 2, 2010.
